Addressing Global Cancer Disparities
As an international leader in cancer medicine, MSK is committed to programs that extend beyond a national scope. In 2011, MSK launched the Global Cancer Disparities Initiatives (GCDI) program to help improve outcomes for people with cancer in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
Fueling global partnerships and uniting cancer experts
Philanthropy powered the partnership that led to the establishment of MSK’s GCDI program. Today, this program is bridging the gap between MSK’s cancer experts and communities in Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Ending cancer for life — worldwide
It’s estimated that by 2030, approximately 75% of cancer deaths worldwide will occur in low- and middle-income countries. With your support, the GCDI program can expand its collaborative research initiatives to address the global cancer burden, increase access to cancer care, and change lives in more underserved communities.

Education and training
More skilled healthcare workers are needed in sub-Saharan Africa to care for the growing number of people with cancer there. GCDI efforts are creating a sustainable network of future leaders in cancer research and care in that region.
