Our Community Is Everything

May 21, 2020

COVID-19 has changed all of our lives and the world around us. Through it all, though, MSK never stopped taking care of patients.

From the beginning, we moved swiftly to implement creative new ways to care for people with cancer and keep our entire community safe. We put some things on pause — certain surgeries, new patient appointments, and laboratory research. And we made sure that patients and staff had the personal protective equipment (PPE) they needed. We even took in cancer patients from nearby hospitals that became overburdened with COVID-19 because our community is everything to us and extends far beyond the walls of our facilities.

Today, the number of patients hospitalized at MSK with COVID-19 continues to decline, allowing us to resume activities critical to our core focus — cancer. We’re beginning to welcome new patients in person and virtually via telemedicine, conduct surgeries of all types, and reopen our labs. We're doing all of this with the safety of our patients, their loved ones, and our staff as the top priority.

We don’t know everything that will happen in the future, but we know that we will always do everything possible to ensure that people with cancer have access to world-class care and research. And we also know that your support will make this possible.

Today and every day, your partnership is essential to our mission. Your generosity gives us the flexibility to quickly address the most pressing challenges in cancer care, research, and education. It also allows us to face every new challenge head on — from unforeseen financial needs due to COVID-19 such as PPE purchases and employee relief assistance, to the swift ramping up of our telemedicine capabilities — and ensure that our patients, and patients with cancer worldwide, get the care they need.

Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our mission.
